The 1272 is a smaller BBb tuba. It uses the same size body as the Miraphone 282 BBb tuba, but features piston valves instead of rotary valves. With the 1272, you get a well centered low range.
The compact size is nice for travelling, stand up work, small orchestra pits, or just for musicians who do not care to be overwhelmed by a large oversize tuba.
