ZEEWOONG MUNN

Zeewoong Munn is a well-known Asian tuba artist. He attended Kyung-Hee University and has won numerous competitions including Jeju International Brass Competition, Kyoung-Hee Music Competition, Korea Music Association Competition, Pusan MBC Competition, Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation Young Artist, Yurim Young artist, and the Korea-American Association Music Competition.

Mr. Munn was principal tubist in the Seoul Youth Orchestra and Gwacheon City Youth Orchestra. After graduating from Kyung-Hee University, he went to Japan to study with the legendary Roger Bobo. As a graduate student, he studied with Jim Self, Norm Pearson and Doug Tornquist. Mr. Munn performed a concert with the USC Thornton Orchestra which was broadcast through a classical music radio channel KUSC. He performed with LA Metropolitan Brass Band as a guest soloist, and was invited to the International Tuba Euphonium Conference as a member of the USC Tuba Ensemble in 2010.

Zeewoong played at the South West Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference as a soloist in 2009 along with David Childs and Patrick Sheridan. Mr. Munn has played with numerous orchestras and ensembles such as Pusan Philharmonic, Gyunggi Philharmonic, Euro-Asian Philharmonic, Bundang Wind Orchestra, Gangnam Wind Ensemble, and the Thornton Symphony. Chosen by the conductor, Nanse Gum, Zeewoong Munn played as principal tubist in the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra and Gwacheon Symphony Orchestra.

Munn is currently member of the Seoul Brass Quintet with trumpet professor, Heechan Ahn. He has been invited to be on the faculty with Øystein Baadsvik at the 2016 Asia Tuba Festival in Korea. Zeewoong Munn is on the faculty of Korean National University of Arts, Chugye Art University, Seokyeong University, Dongduk Women’s University, Sookmyoung Women’s University and the University of Seoul.
