MICHAEL PIRCHER

Univ. Prof. Mag. Michael Pircher was born in 1979 in Merano and grew up in Lana.

He began his concert studies in 1998 in the class of Professor Nikolaus Schafferer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. One year later, Michael Pircher was able to receive his first engagement at the “Theater in der Josefstadt” in Vienna.

During his engagements at the Vienna State Opera from 2002 to 2004 and at the “Orchester der Niederösterreichischen Tonkünstler” since 2004, Michael Pircher finished his studies in 2005 with distinction. Pircher played with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, the Bavarian State Theatre Munich, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and much more.

In 2008 Michael Pircher spent several months in Doha during an engagement with the Qatar Philharmonic.

From 2010 to 2013, Michael Pircher was professor at the Music Conservatory "Claudio Monteverdi" Bolzano. In 2012, he was appointed Professor of Basstuba at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

The band “Die Schöne und das Blech” (the beauty and the brass) and several ensembles more, as well as solo and pedagogical activities let him keep in touch with his native South Tyrol. With the project Tuba-Voice-Line, he is dedicating himself to a new exciting facet of chamber music.
