MAXIMILIAN WAGNER-SHIBATA

Maximilian Wagner-Shibata, who was born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1992, took his first musical steps in his hometown of Endingen as trumpet player with the beginners orchestra of the local wind band. After switching to the tuba in 2009, he took lessons with Werner Götze, solo tuba of the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden/Freiburg. In the same year he gained his first orchestral experience in the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Orchestra. Further projects followed in 2016 with the “Junge Deutsche Philharmonie” and the Festival Orchestra of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

In 2011 Maximilian Wagner-Shibata joined the prepatory class of Prof. Dirk Hirthe at the University of Music in Karlsruhe and began his bachelor's degree with him the following year.

After successfully completing his studies, he went on to study for a master's degree - also with Prof. Dirk Hirthe - which he completed with distinction in 2018.

Since 2017 Maximilian Wagner-Shibata has been a permanent tubist of the Staatskapelle Weimar.

In addition, he gives guest appearances in renowned cultural orchestras in Germany, such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the hr Symphony Orchestra.
